Ever wanted to learn how to create short films on trans issues? Are you an aspiring film maker? Fox Fisher shares their experiences on being on both sides of the camera and what they have learned over the past 5 years of film-making for the LGBT community, particularly on trans issues. In this workshop you can learn ways to create engaging films, both fiction and non-fictions, utilising what’s around you. You will get a chance to look at some of the films that were produced by My Genderation as well as improve your film making skills, get tips about how to start, learn how to vlog and get some practical information, you're in the right place.
Fox Fisher is an artist, film-maker and campaigner. After taking part in C4’s My Transsexual Summer, they set up My Genderation and has made 50+ short films, with Lewis Hancox. 'New Genderation: Tayler' was broadcast on the BBC in 2015. My Trans Story is 8 short films, part of 25 shorts films created with All About Trans for C4 in 2015. Fox also co-created 8 short films on trans issues for the NHS, commissioned by GIRES, promoted by NHS Choices. Fox promotes trans matters through TV appearances: ITV This Morning Breakfast TV (2011), BBC Inside Out (2012), Arte Europa (2013) BBC Victoria Derbyshire (2016). He is an advisor to All About Trans, and facilitated interactions w/ BBC, Daily Mail, Sun & Observer, to discuss representation in media. As director of Lucky Tooth Films, Fox made Vicky Beeching’s ‘coming out’ video, comedy Heartichoke and recently worked with Will Young on music video Brave Man, casting a trans lead. Fox plays the role of Jake Greenleaf (a gay transman) in Radio 4’s book adaptations of Armistead Maupin’s Tales of the City (2016). Fox also co-created the Trans Acting course / Royal Central School of Speech & Drama, is one of three script consultants for BBC Eastenders’, trans character Kyle (2016). He is Patron for LGBT Switchboard, FTM Wales & ‘Ties To Love’, Co-creator of Children’s book: Are You A Boy Or Are You A Girl? and Co-creator of Trans Pride Brighton (2013+). In 2014 they spoke at Tedx Brighton, the same year that University of Brighton made them a ‘Brighton Titan’. Fox is acknowledged on The Independent’s Rainbow List for their work in film and in the community (2014 - 2016) and was recently listed on Huffington Post ‘9 Inspirational Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Men Who Are Redefining Masculinity’.
